Pneumonia

Pneumonia is an acute respiratory infection of the lungs. It doesn’t have one single cause – it can develop from either bacteria, viruses or fungi in the air. When a child is infected, his lungs are filled with fluid and it becomes difficult to breathe.

As pneumonia is an infection of the lungs, the most common symptoms are coughing, trouble breathing and fever.

Feeding & Nutrition

Nutrition for kids is based on the same ideas as nutrition for adults. Everyone needs the same types of things, such as vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, protein and fat. These are called nutrients. Children need different amounts of specific nutrients at different ages.

The best eating pattern for a child's growth and development considers the child's age, activity level and other characteristics.

If you have questions about nutrition for kids or specific concerns about your child's diet, you can call us, we will provide you the full support.

Growth & Development

A child's growth and development can be divided into four periods:

  • Infancy
  • Preschool years
  • Middle childhood years
  • Adolescence

after birth, an infant normally loses about 5% to 10% of their birth weight. By about age 2 weeks, an infant should start to gain weight and grow quickly.

By age 4 to 6 months, an infant's weight should be double their birth weight. During the second half of the first year of life, growth is not as rapid. Between ages 1 and 2, a toddler will gain only about 5 pounds (2.2 kilograms). Weight gain will remain at about 5 pounds (2.2 kilograms) per year between ages 2 to 5.

you can call me, if you have concerns about your child's growth and development.

Adolescent Health

Adolescence is a crucial period for developing social and emotional habits important for mental well-being. These include adopting healthy sleep patterns; exercising regularly; developing coping, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; and learning to manage emotions. Protective and supportive environments in the family, at school and in the wider community are important.

Some tips to deal with adolescent behaviour

  • If u want your teenager listens to u, u should earn their trust
  • No matter how unreasonable ur teen’s behaviour may seem, try to imagine how they are feeling
  • Put urself in their shoes and understand their perspective
  • If u want ur teen to respect u then teach them about it by respecting them
  • Respect their personality, ideas , emotions and OPINIONS
  • Do not belittle them in front of their friends or even in private
  • Do not criticise their ideas or OPINIONS as that can make them insecure as adults
  • Let them know that u are their to help them should they need any. Help them to understand that asking for is not a sign of inadequacy
  • Seek their help in small matter to make them feel involved.
  • Teenage may see ur discipline and strictness as hatred towards them and may say so , but it is not true
  • U can prevent them from developing negative feelings towards u by doing little things which make them happy and also telling them how much u love them

Viral Fever Treatment

Usually, the cold and flu season is from September to January. Now, this has changed.

Lately since April there have been quite a few children with cough, cold, fever, and many with wheezing due to viral infections. Probably, With schools reopening, the viral infections had gone up due to less physical distancing and increased exposure.

There is a vicious cycle where a child goes to school – gets the infection from some child – give it to some other child – gets better in next 1-2 weeks then again catches new one …….so the cycle continues Most are self-limiting in a few days and do not require admission.

Symptomatic treatment is adequate.

The warning signs include fever for more than three to four days, breathing difficulty, extreme lethargy, very poor intake and fever with rash,”

New Born Care

If this is your first baby, you might worry that you are not ready to take care of a newborn. You're not alone. Lots of new parents feel unprepared when it's time to bring their new babies home from the hospital. You can take steps to help yourself get ready for the transition home.

you can call me, if you have concerns about your new born care.

Infectious Disease

Infectious diseases remains the leading cause for medical consultation and hospital admissions in India. Bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites cause infectious diseases. Fever is a common clinical symptom in children.

The underlying infectious disorder causing fever in children can range from mild and self-limiting illness such as upper respiratory tract infection to more serious viral and bacterial illnesses. It is important to Distinguish between the benign self-limiting illness that is manageable at home and those that require hospitalization. Many infectious diseases which are common in children are quite rare in adults.

Some common infection in children are a) Respiratory tract infection b) Diarrhea c) Tuberculosis d) Urinary tract infection e) Malaria f) Typhoid fever g) Dengue fever h) Pyoderma i) Parasitic infection j) Hand, foot & Mouth disease

However, the advent of modern sanitation and hygiene practices, effective vaccines, and antibiotics have significantly diminished the burden worldwide.
